Our Climate
The Mackay area is characterised by that of a tropical weather zone. This means there is a high degree of humidity, with high temperatures and minimal seasonal temperature variation.
Endibrook home designs ensure there is a balance between these climatic conditions, comfort and sustainability by undertaking a number of key design responses:
- We employ a lightweight (low mass) construction
- Maximise external wall areas to encourage movement of breezes through the building
- Ensure that your new home is positioned to capture breezes and shading all year round
- Create shade over the whole building where possible in summer & winter
- Use of reflective insulation & vapour barriers
- Ventilation of the roof spaces
- Use of bulk insulation if there is mechanical cooling
- Utilising light coloured roof and wall materials
- Elevate building to permit airflow beneath floors
- Consider high or raked ceilings
- Provide screened, shaded outdoor living areas
- Consider creating sleepout spaces
- Design and build for cyclonic conditions
